Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said he is working to bring all the parties opposed to the BJP at the national level on a single platform, to fight the party in the interest of the state and the nation.

"BJP's defeat is absolutely necessary for the development of the state as well as the nation, and to save democracy and democratic institutions in the country, and the TDP will do everything possible to achieve that end. The BJP and Prime Minister Modi should be defeated, if justice is to be done to the state and for it to get the promised special category status," he said at several meetings in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts on Thursday, after laying the foundation stones for the Bhogapuram international airport in Vizianagaram and the Adani data centre park at Kapulauppada in Visakhapatnam. He also inaugurated the IT millennium tower and the Asian Paints unit in Visakhapatnam district.

At Bhogapuram, the CM said the international airport would serve the needs of the north-coastal districts and speed up the economic development of Vizianagaram district. It would cater to the needs of the people in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam, and to an extent the people of East Godavari. "Air connectivity is critical to the growth of the region, especially the IT sector and tourism," he added.

He laid the foundation stone for the Adani data centre park in Visakhapatnam district. The group is expected to invest Rs 70,000 crore in the park in phases, the MoU for which was signed in January this year. As part of the project, submarine communication cables would be laid to connect the country with the South-East Asian nations. The first phase of the project, which is likely to generate direct and indirect employment to a lakh of people, is scheduled to be completed in less than two years.

The CM also inaugurated the IT millennium tower at Madhurawada, which has been constructed on a 4-acre site at a cost of Rs 145 crore by the AP IT department. IT company Conduent will start operations in the tower immediately.
