In an effort to boost the growth of Micro Small and Medium Entreprises (MSMEs), the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to set up a 200-acre model industrial township near Vijayawada.

The township will develop necessary support infrastructure, a skill development and training centre and accommodation for the workers. The Government will provide land to MSMEs in the township and has identified land at Veerapanenigudem, Gannavaram near Vijayawada.

During a meeting with representatives of MSMEs, State Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu assured them that the government will render all necessary support to the industries and provide assistance in setting up units in the state.

Apart from allotting land, Naidu said, “The township will be provided with uninterrupted power and water supply and be well-connected with the highway. A special officer will be appointed to monitor the infrastructure, permissions and other requirements for the MSME units.”

He wanted the MSMEs to make it a model industrial township setting new benchmarks from planning layouts to world-class infrastructure.

The MSME representatives requested the Chief Minister to allot land at a lower price instead on a lease basis. This, they explained would help in setting up more units and thereby generating better employment opportunities.

Responding positively to their request, Naidu said a flyover would be constructed to link the township to cut down traffic.
