The Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BNCCI) has welcomed Budget 2016 as “pragmatic” and rightly recognised the imperatives of agriculture and farmers’ welfare, rural employment, skill development and so on.

“The allocations made for the different sectors and the enhancement of plan expenditure vis-à-vis non-plan expenditure are welcome and will have a positive impact,” Dr GP Sarkar, President, BNCCI.

The proposal to provide tax holiday for start-ups for three to five years from setting up the company; lowering corporate income tax for companies not exceeding an annual turnover of Rs 5 crore; additional exemptions for housing loans for first time home buyers and different measures to rationalise customs and excise to boost “Make-In-India” are laudable efforts.
