Somu Verraju, MLC, senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party, and an outspoken critic of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has asserted that Visakhapatnam will get the promised railway zone and Kadapa the steel factory and there need not be any doubts or misgivings over the issue.

He was addressing the media here on Wednesday. He said the Telugu Desam Party as well as the Chief Minister had launched a concerted attack on his party over the past few months, after the TDP had broken away from the NDA, and said his party is "perfectly capable of hitting back at the TDP and paying it back in the same coin, but to the BJP the welfare of the people of the State is more important than playing politics’’.

Finding fault with the member of Parliament, C M Ramesh, for launching an indefinite fast in Kadapa for the promised steel factory from Wednesday, he said the central committee had given a report on the Kadapa steel plant and it had asked the State Government to fulfil certain conditions, but "the TDP Government and TDP leaders are politicising the issue, just as they are politicising the special category issue’’.

Polavaram visit

He said a team of senior party leaders would visit the mega Polavaram irrigation project under construction in West Godavari district on June 24 and study for themselves the progress of the project.

He alleged that the TDP and the Chief Minister were "misleading the public on the project and the sincerity of the ruling TDP is suspect. For the delay in the construction of the project, the TDP is solely responsible."
