Residents of Vellalore village near Coimbatore will now have access to banking services at their doorstep consequent to Bank of India declaring it as a ‘Digital Village’. The bank's Executive Director Neelam Damodharan, who was in the city to declare Vellalore as BoI's digital village, said besides upgrading technology, the bank has also been working on development of Indian villages as part of its social responsibility.
Residents of Vellalore can complete their bank work on computers or mobile phones without visiting the branch. These digital facilities would be provided to all the villages in a phased manner, he added.
