After crisscrossing India as “Mentor-on-Road” to encourage entrepreneurship, leading trade and management consultant Jagat Shah, will now embark on a similar journey in the USA in June 2017.

Supported by the US Commercial Services (USCS), US Department of Commerce and US-India Importers’ Council (USIIC), the Ahmedabad-based consultant, seen as close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will undertake the 15,400-km, 78-day-long drive across America, he told BusinessLine here on Saturday.

In 2015-16, Shah undertook a 9,500-km-long journey across 24 states and 35 cities of India, encouraging entrepreneurs, startups and SMEs to understand their challenges in ease of doing business and presented a report to the Government of India with possible solutions for consideration as part of its “Make in India” drive.

On January 10, during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017, the USCS and the US Department of Commerce will launch the Mentor on Road-USA website at a reception hosted by USIIC here. More than 100 American companies are participating in the Vibrant Gujarat event.

The Mentor on Road–USA is a road drive planned by Shah, who is the founder of Global Network and Cluster Pulse firms that offer consultancy. He is also the Foreign Representative of the Government of Manitoba (Canada) in India for trade and investment.

During his drive across the USA, Shah will be meeting American SMEs, startups, women- run businesses and institutions, corporates for CSR activities and Indian Diaspora in a bid to connect them to businesses and CSR activities in India.

In early 2015, Shah had trained Pakistani entrepreneurs at Karachi on how to engage in global businesses.

For his Mentor-on-Road drive, he had converted his SUV into a mobile office, equipped with all the necessary gadgets for instant communication.

Shah had organised the China visit of Modi in November 2011 for the then Gujarat Chief Minister and was also the part of Modi’s team to prepare for the latter’s high-profile US visit in 2015.
