Bringing Salem, Erode, Namakkal and Karur districts under the jurisdiction of Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT), Coimbatore is a welcome realignment. The Government has done this in the interest of public litigants in these districts, according to the Coimbatore Consumer Cause.
(The jurisdiction of the said four districts were transferred to Madurai DRT in 2007).
Hailing the recent notification on realignment of jurisdictional areas of DRTs in Tamil Nadu by bringing the said four districts under Coimbatore DRT jurisdiction, the Secretary of Coimbatore Consumer Cause, K Kathirmathiyon, said Coimbatore is nearer to those districts compared to Madurai.
The decision is in public interest, he said, hailing the realignment.
