Chola MS General Insurance Company is looking for candidates in rural areas for placement in its BPOs.

SS Gopalarathnam, Managing Director, Chola MS told BusinessLine that the company has already set up two BPOs at Rathnagiri and Villupuram and is looking to set up more to take care of back-end processes.

“Around 80 girls, most of who have just completed class XII are engaged in the unit at Rathnagiri, while the Villupuram– all women rural BPO houses engineering graduates. We identified about 40 engineering candidates who were otherwise unemployed and placed them. One-fifth of the 2.5 lakh policies issued every month are processed and despatched from the two processing centres,” he said.

The company is gearing up to set up a centre near Thanjavur soon. “We intend to place differently-enabled candidates at this centre. This should be up and operational within the next 2–3 months.”

The fourth centre at Kanchipuram is expected to be ready by the end of this year, Gopalarathnam said.

To a query on attrition rate at the rural BPOs, he said “practically nil, except when the girls move out after marriage.”
