Big responsibility

“As a democracy, the right to choose our government is the most significant privilege and responsibility we have,” he said.

Asking them to vote with wisdom and courage, he urged them to encourage 10 other voters to vote in the upcoming national elections.

Answering to a query by a student, he said he votes based on the performance and quality of the leader. Elect a leader with integrity and righteousness, he said.

“I am in the 83rd orbit around the Sun, and voted a number of times in various elections,” Kalam said, adding that he analyses the integrity of a leader through the data available in various sources.

Kalam urged the students to have a great aim in their life before the age of 20, and asked them to acquire knowledge continuously. Hard work and perseverance are important to become successful in life, he said.
