Online travel agency Cleartrip says that 43 per cent of its bookings from Thiruvananthapuram happen between zero to seven days from the date of travel.
The proportion of these ‘last-minute bookers’ average close to the national sample of 47 per cent, according to Subramanya Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer, Cleartrip.
Top choices as international destinations from here are Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Sharjah, Sharma told newspersons here. Those making the top 10 list also include Muscat, Singapore, Colombo and Male.
Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi are the top three domestic destinations for travellers from here. Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kochi and Kolkata are not too far behind on the list.
Weekend getaways most favoured are Kochi, Munnar and Kodaikanal while others such as Trichy, Velankanni, Wayanad, Guruvayoor and Kollam are also witnessing strong traction.
“We see extraordinary uptake in bookings made from mobile devices in Thiruvananthapuram,” Sharma said.
Overall mobile traffic from the city has seen a year-on-year growth of 175 per cent, he said without specifying hard numbers.
Hotel bookings made on Cleartrip Mobile from Thiruvananthapuram have seen a 240 per cent growth and air bookings, 62 per cent, he added.
