Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao has asked the officials of the Agriculture and Revenue Departments to complete the distribution of pattadar passbooks and cheques (₹4,000 an acre) by June 2. Reviewing the progress of Rythu Bandhu scheme on Tuesday evening, the Chief Minister asked the officials to sort out technical glitches in some areas that resulted in delay of the distribution of cheques and the passbooks.

Beginning this kharif season, the Government has decided to give fresh passbooks, indicating the ownership of the lands, to the farmers. Farmers would also get ₹4,000 an acre each in the kharif and rabi seasons to take care of the input purchases ahead of the cropping seasons. The State Government allocated ₹12,000 crore in the 2018-19 Budget to support the scheme that is expected to benefit about 56 lakh farmers in the State.

“Sort out the glitches and ensure all the farmers receive the passbooks by June 2 when a new Registration system comes into effect,” he said.

“Those farmers who failed to attend the passbook distribution programme on the appointed day can collect them from the Mandal Revenue Officer’s office,” he said.

The Chief Minister will conduct a meeting again this afternoon to review the progress of the implementation of the programme and identify the roadblocks. The meeting will also discuss on the farmers insurance scheme and Kanti Velugu (Eye Camps).
