Top stakeholders of the ayurveda sector in the State attended the ‘Kerala Ayurveda Marketing Conclave 2012’ organised by CII-Kerala here on Friday.

The objective of the conclave was to discuss the upcoming Global Ayurveda Summit 2012.

Ayurveda summit

Mr V.K. Mathews, chairman, CII-Kerala, and Dr S Saji Kumar, managing director, Dhathri Ayurveda, inaugurated the official brochure for the ensuing Global Ayurveda Summit 2012. The summit will be held in September along with the Emerging Kerala event organised here.

Mr Mathews stressed on the huge potential for ayurveda and described it as a force that will eventually transform the State as a global hub for ayurveda across the globe.

He also spoke about the challenges the ayurveda industry is facing and promised full support of the CII side to ensure that these challenges are met.

The theme address was presented by Dr Saji Kumar, who is also the chairman of Global Ayurveda Summit. He stressed on the importance of marketing ayurveda in the right manner to ensure growth and development of the sector.

Innovation

The time has come for innovation in processing. New generation products have to be introduced to sustain and promote growth, he said and added that the summit was positioned to showcase Kerala as a global destination and hub for ayurveda.

Dr G. Vinodkumar, State president, Ayurveda Medical Association of India, was of the view that these kinds of summits should be encouraged by all stakeholders.

Dr D. Ramanathan, General Development, Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturers Organisation of India, said the summit would better the prospects of health tourism industry in Kerala. He also called for setting up a regulatory body for ayurveda.

According to Mr C.J. George, vice-chairman, CII-Kerala, Emerging Kerala would be a great platform to showcase the strengths and the progress that Kerala had made in the field of ayurveda.
