Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday continues to engage in a verbal war over the data leak from social media platforms.

While Rahul Gandhi said the Centre was making allegations against the Congress to deviate people’s attention from the government’s failure to deal with the matter of the deaths of 39 Indians in Iraq, Prasad said the Amethi MP is playing politics with the deaths.

“Problem: 39 Indians dead; Government on the mat, caught lying. Solution: Invent story on Congress and Data Theft. Result: Media networks bite bait; 39 Indians vanish from radar. Problem solved,” the Congress president tweeted on Thursday.

Backing his leader, party’s communications in-charge Randeep Surjewala alleged that the Centre lied to the families of the 39 Indians that they were alive even after evidence suggested they were killed years ago.

Prasad rejected the Congress’s claim that it had never used the services of Cambridge Analytica.

He insisted that the party and Rahul used their services.

“All I will tell Rahul Gandhi: he should not do politics on dead bodies of Indians who lost their lives in very unfortunate circumstances,” he told a press conference.

He said the Congress used the services of Cambridge Analytica to influence elections.

“Several media reports about the Congress using the services of the firm had appeared in October and November last year and it never denied those stories till the BJP raised the issue yesterday,” Prasad claimed.

“The Ppposition party maintained a conspicuous silence on the role of a dubious company.”

When asked wether the BJP had also used the company’s or its Indian partner’s services, Prasad said the BJP never had any ties with the foreign company.

“There is no authentic confirmation of any Indian partner of the company working for the BJP or its allies,” he said.
