The Goa bench of the Bombay High Court has directed Palm Resorts Ltd and Marriott Resorts here to restore access to the beach for the public through a reserved path near their property at Miramar near here.
Disposing of a petition filed by the Goa Foundation, an environmental organisation, on Monday, the court also directed the planning and development authorities to examine if any of its construction comes in the ambit of High Tide Line under Coastal Regulation Zone and take necessary action within six months.
It directed the respondents Palm Hotels to take all measures to prevent the erosion of the bank and siltation of the Mandovi river along the properties of the respondents.
It directed the respondents, Palm Hotel India Ltda, Vasco–da-Gama, and Goa Marriott Resorts, not to obstruct the access of the public to the subject beach through the said reserved path and that respondents shall take all measures to make such path accessible to the said beach in accordance with law.
