With 216 new positive cases, Karnataka witnessed the highest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases on Saturday. The total tally in the State is now 1,959, with total discharges at 508, total death in the State at 44 (2 non-Covid-19 cause).
The new cases have travel history to Maharashtra, and they have been detected in Mandya (28 cases), Chikkaballapura (26 cases), Yadagiri (72 cases) and Raichur (40 cases).
The majority of the cases from inter-state travel with history to Maharastra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and contact from patients.
In addition to new cases, the State also saw two deaths.
In Dakshina Kannada, one death was attributed to a non-Covid-19 cause. While in Bengaluru Urban, 32-year-old male patient died on May 23 due to cardiac arrest.
