The Defence Expo 2018 has gathered the collective imagination of Chennai. The expo, held from 11 to 14 April 2018, was open to the public today.

As part of the expo, four indigenously built naval warships docked at the Chennai port on Friday for public viewing. To visit these warships, general public were to assemble in the Island grounds with valid IDs and they would be ferried by the Navy to the ships from there. The warships were Sahyadri, Sumitra, Kamorta and Airavat.

A tweet from the Spokesperson of Navy said that more than 26,000 citizens, including school children, visited the warships.

Today in Thiruvidandai, the venue of the expo, the visitors met some diffuclties. Traffic was a major problem, as many people went to the venue using private transport. Their grievance was compounded by the long queues. Some people noted that it took them over two hours to reach the venue. However, many people had a great time looking at the exhibits and the displays.
