Cracking the whip on the erring packaged drinking water manufacturers in Delhi, action was initiated against 26 firms in the national capital for exploiting ground water in the last two years, Rajya Sabha was informed on Monday.
In a reply to a question, Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Santosh Kumar Gangwar said, as per the information received from the State Government of Delhi, action has been taken against 26 manufacturers. Their bore wells and tube wells have been sealed, he added.
The Central Groundwater Authority received 112 complaints against packaged drinking water manufacturing companies, exploiting ground water without requisite approval during the last and current year, he added.
