President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate one of the longest beach festivals in Asia, Feasta de Diu, on Tuesday.
Manish Kumar Agrawal, Executive Director of the festival, said the two-and-a-half-month-long beach festival will conclude on February 15.
“Around 17 lakh people visited the festival last year. We expect the number to double this year. The majority of tourists are from Gujarat, followed by Rajasthan and Maharashtra,” Agrawal said.
The festival will stage performances by 120 Bollywood and international artistes. “We have requested Air India to fly direct flights from Mumbai to Diu four days a week. They have agreed. There will soon be a direct flight to Diu from Ahmedabad as well,” he added.
