The Election Commission (EC) has issued a show-cause notice to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The EC has asked him to explain by January 19 why it should not take action against him for violating the MCC.
The action follows an online complaint lodged by the BJP. The BJP alleged that while addressing an election rally on January 8 in Goa, Kejriwal asked the voters to accept money from rival candidates but vote for the AAP.
Kejriwal’s statement amounted to “abetting and promoting the electoral offence of bribery”, and is a violation of the MCC, the EC said.
