The European Union has agreed to give the Pune Municipal Corporation a grant of €100,000. The funds have been given to improve hygiene, build toilets and manage solid waste in the city’s slum areas.
Through this grant, the PMC will build the facilities over the next five years in 90 slums across Pune.
The EU has invited applications for development schemes from developing nations, and 12 Indian cities had sent-in their proposals. The PMC had sent its proposal through Co-operative Housing Foundation India, an NGO.
