Farmers’ organisations joined hands with people’s movements and political parties on Thursday to form a joint platform to intensify their opposition to the land ordinance.
The platform, called Bhoomi Adhikar Sangharsh Andolan, includes about 15 farmer bodies, such as the All India Kisan Sabha, National Alliance of People’s Movement and All India Union for Forest Working People, Kisan Sangharsh Samiti and All India Agricultural Workers’ Union.
A meeting with political parties was also held to seek their support in Parliament.
It was attended by Jairam Ramesh (Congress), Sitaram Yechury (CPI-M), D Raja (CPI), KC Tyagi (JD-U), Debabrata Biswas (All India Forward Bloc), and Manoj Jha (RJD).
