Febi Varghese has taken over as Managing Director of Kerala Minerals and Metals (KMML), a public sector company under the Kerala government.

KMML is an integrated titanium dioxide manufacturing company based in Kollam and its operations comprise mining, mineral separation, and production of synthetic rutile and pigment.

Besides rutile-grade titanium dioxide pigment, which is used in various types of industries, it also produces ilmenite, rutile, zircon, sillimanite, and synthetic rutile.

Varghese concurrently serves as Managing Director of Kerala State Industrial Enterprises (KSIE) and Chairman of Travancore Cements, both public sector companies.

KSIE was formed to revive and nurse sick units under the Industries Department, Kerala. In 1979, it was appointed by the Government of India as Custodian of the Air Cargo Complex at the Thiruvananthapuram airport. Later, it extended operations to the Kochi and Kozhikode airports as well.

Travancore Cements was incorporated in 1946, and started production of Grey Portland cement in 1949 and White Portland Cement in 1959. It has been producing only White cement since 1974. It became a government company in April 1989, and celebrated its golden jubilee in 1997. It has been an ISO 9001-2008 certified company since 2003.
