The ruling AIADMK government will roll out the Amma scooters scheme on former chief minister J Jayalalithaa's 70th birth anniversary. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to launch the scheme and participate in the celebrations. The AIADMK will also launch its party mouthpiece Namadha Amma.

A ministerial panel under Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi will meet in New Delhi on Saturday to firm up the simplified “single-stage” GST return filing process. On Saturday, the GoM will meet and discuss available options on GST return simplification, which will be then taken up by the GST Council on March 10. The GoM would also consider separate dates of return filing for MSMEs and large businesses.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the golden jubilee celebrations of Auroville International township. This is Modi's first visit to Puducherry after becoming the Prime Minister.

Samsung will unbox its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ on the eve of Mobile World Congress 2018. The Galaxy S9+, expected to cost about 1000 euros, will be pitted against the Apple iPhone X. India is set to be among those countries to get the new devices.

The 2018 Winter Olympics comes to a close on Sunday. US President Donald Trump’s daughter and advisor Ivanka Trump may come face to face with a top North Korean general, as both are set to attend the closing ceremony in South Korea. Ivanka will be leading a high-profile American delegation to the closing ceremony, being held in Pyeongchang. North Korea will also send a high-level delegation to the event.US vice president Mike Pence had attended the opening ceremony of the mega event where Kim’s sister Kim Yo Jong was also in attendance.
