The India-China J oint Economic Group meets in Delhi today. Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu and his Chinese counterpart Zhong Shan will deliberate on ways to boost two-way commerce and reduce trade deficit. India has time and again raised the issue of heavy trade imbalance with China and sought steps to facilitate Indian exports in areas including pharmaceutical and agricultural products and information technology services.

The first session of the 30-member Puducherry Assembly in 2018 begins today. Chief Minister V Narayanasamy will table the Vote on Account Bill to get the nod of the House for allocation of funds to the Puducherry government to meet its expenditure during the first few months of the fiscal 2018-2019. A full-fledged budget will be presented either in April or May. 

Hospitality chain Lemon Tree Hotels initial public offer will open today. It has fixed the price band between ₹54 and ₹56 a share. The company plans to raise around ₹1,040 crore via the offer. Ahead of the share sale, Lemon Tree has raised ₹311.61 crore from anchor investors.

Chinese smartphone maker Oppo will launch its F7 device in India today. The phone is likely to sport a notch similar to that of iPhone X. The company launched the Oppo F5 in November. 

Egypt will hold its Presidential elections today. Voters will choose between Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and one little-known candidate who supports the former field marshal. All serious opposition pulled out in January citing intimidation after the main challenger was jailed. Sisi is virtually guaranteed to win a second four-year term, with voters hoping he can improve Egypt's struggling economy.
