The Rohingyas' plea against deportation will come up for hearing in the Supreme Court. The plea, filed by two Rohingya immigrants, Mohammad Salimullah and Mohammad Shaqir, who are registered as refugees under the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), claimed they have taken refuge in India after escaping from Myanmar due to widespread discrimination, violence and bloodshed against the community there. They challenged their deportation on several grounds, including violation of international human rights conventions.

The Supreme Court is likely to hear a plea by a group of traders in the NCR seeking modification of its October 9 order by which the sale of firecrackers has been banned in the Delhi-NCR region till November 1. In Delhi, which is among the most polluted cities in the world, the apex court had observed that due to the adverse effects of burning of fire crackers, “the air quality deteriorates abysmally and alarmingly and the city chokes thereby".

The lawyers of all six district courts in the national capital will go on a day-long strike to protest against the alleged misconduct of some judges. In a unanimous resolution adopted by the Coordination Committee of all District Court Bar Associations in the Capital, it was alleged that some judges were repeatedly misbehaving with the lawyers by treating them as subordinates. The strike is likely to paralyse work in all six district courts at Patiala House, Rohini, Saket, Tis Hazari, Dwarka and Karkardooma.

India will take on Australia in the series-deciding third and final T20 International at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Though it has been a regular venue in the IPL, it will be the first time that a T20 International is played here. India, who dominated Australia in the preceding ODI series, won the opening T20 comfortably before getting a rude shock in the second game.

India will look to carry forward the momentum when they take on hosts Bangladesh in their second Pool A match of the men’s Asia Cup hockey tournament in Dhaka. India produced an impressive performance to outclass Japan 5-1 in their opening campaign at the 10th edition of the tournament.
