More than 81 lakh houses have been sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)-Urban, while under Smart Cities Mission, 25 works on smart roads worth ₹837 crore have been completed said the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Speaking at the completion of four years of PMAY(U), Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Smart Cities Mission, Hardeep Puri, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs (Independent Charge), said that overall ₹8 lakh crore investments have been made in these programmes.

“We have phenomenal numbers because we involved the States as equal partners. Also, the implementation of all the schemes is based on hard identification of beneficiaries,” he said.

Launched in 2015, Smart Cities Mission 16 integrated control and command centres (ICCC) have been operationalised. Another 55 ICCCs are in different stages of implementation. Also, smart solar energy projects have been completed in 15 cities.

Meanwhile, under AMRUT, 58 lakh water tap connections have been provided while another 81 lakh will be provided and by the end of the mission all households will have water supply, said the statement.

To move from water scarcity to water security, 1,132 projects worth ₹33,900 crore are under implementation, the statement added.
