GIFT City on Monday said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP (DTTILLP), which renders consultancy services, for mutual cooperation in areas related to international financial services. GIFT City is a global business district offering a platform for business opportunities in international and domestic business operations.
The MoU was signed by Ajay Pandey, Managing Director and Group CEO of GIFT, and Abhay Gupte, Partner, DTTILLP, with the aim of assisting domestic and international clients set up operations at the GIFT-located International Financial Services Centre (IFSC). Both entities will also cooperate in training and organising seminars and conferences on select topics to promote IFSC.
In a statement, Pandey said with GIFT-based IFSC witnessing substantial growth in the banking, insurance and capital market space, quality professional services would be required to support the establishment of businesses in the IFSC and their growth. Gupte observed that this IFSC is a major step towards positioning India amongst the leading financial services centres in the world.
IFSC at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), a partnership project of the Gujarat government and IL&FS, embodies the vision of making India a financial services hub. GIFT City caters to India’s large financial services potential by offering infrastructure, facilities, financial incentives, uninterrupted connectivity and conducive regulations. Termed as India’s first operational ‘Smart City,’ the project encompasses world-class infrastructure facilities, many of which have been introduced in India for the first time.
