The Girijan Co-operative Corporation is on the turnaround path and it has achieved provisional profit during the current year, said the new Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, T Baburao Naidu.
Baburao Naidu, who assumed charge on Thursday, said efforts will be made to take the products to all parts of the State and the country through aggressive marketing strategies.
A Raviprakash, the outgoing MD, said accumulated losses to the extent of Rs 40 crore could be wiped out during the past four years and GCC had achieved a turnaround by posting a provisional profit of Rs 30 crore during 2017-18 on a turnover of Rs 307 crore.
A number of value-added products were being marketed in recent years, he said, and added that Araku coffee, in particular, had drawn the attention not only in the country, but abroad as well. It was being promoted as organic coffee grown in the eastern ghats of Visakhapatnam district.
Baburao Naidu said all efforts would be made to further increase GCC's turnover to Rs 500 crore in the next few years and to improve the lot of Girijans in Andhra Pradesh by ensuring remunerative prices.
Pocessing facilities of GCC in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and East Godavari would also be modernised, he said.
