The Kochi-based Great Indian Knowledge Initiatives will launch six schools across the state in its first phase of three years.
N.K.Sajiv Menon, a technocrat-turned-educationist, said the primary campus of the first institution called The Great Indian School would be opened this month in Kannur.
“We are envisaging an investment outlay of around ₹150 crore for the first phase when we would be launching schools in Kannur, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, which has been selected for the Centre’s Smart City project,” he said.
The school will follow the integrated CBSE curriculum. In Kerala, the company is planning to set up Great Indian Schools in five of the nine AMRUT cities and the Great Indian International School in Kochi. At the national level, the plans are to set up 100 Great Indian Schools in AMRUT cities and 20 Great Indian International Schools in chosen smart cities .
