Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced that the state government will develop two smart cities in Haryana if they fulfil the set parameters.

“On the basis of population, two smart cities will be developed in Haryana for which parameters have been set and a survey will be conducted in this regard by July 21,” Khattar said in Rohtak.

He said the cities, which fulfil the set parameters, will be kept in the category for developing them into smart cities. Some other cities, which also fulfil the parameters by next year, can enter the category of becoming smart cities.

For developing smart cities, facilities like infrastructure, education, medical facility, electricity, water and participation of people would be checked, he said.

The Chief Minister said for the first time, the citizens can contribute in deciding the development approach towards their cities.

Khattar said apart from smart city, the Centre has also initiated Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and Awas Yojana where 500 cities throughout India will be developed under AMRUT and a target has been set to construct two crore houses for all in urban areas by next seven years under Awas Yojana.

He said that 500 cities were being identified under AMRUT.

Medical colleges admission

Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister said the issue of filling up management quota seats by private medical colleges through separate entrance examination would be taken up with Indian Medical Council.

The Chief Minister said the state government has decided to open Medical College in every district to promote medical education in the state and in days to come, there will be at least one private or government medical college in every district.

By promoting medical education, the state government wants to produce a large number of doctors so that there is no shortage of doctors in the state, he said, adding the so far about 100 doctors have been appointed to meet the shortage of doctors in medical institutions.

112 doctors have been deputed as per requirement of various medical institutions in the state and the process is on to recruit 100 new doctors.

He said that 100 new hospital buildings, 12 new community centres and 12 Primary Health Centres would be constructed during the year 2015-16.

Earlier, the Chief Minister visited General Hospital in Rohtak and inspected the AYUSH Department.
