HDFC Bank has through its Sustainable Livelihood Initiative (SLI) empowered millions, particularly rural women, its Executive Vice-President and Branch Banking Head Madhusudan Hegde said. On the sidelines of the launch of Dhanchayat, a CSR initiative for rural India, Hegde told BusinessLine that the bank reaches out to the unbanked and under-banked by providing them livelihood finance. The SLI approach, he said, helped provide credit to the weaker segments directly, eliminating middlemen and allowing customers get the full disbursed amount.
On branch expansion, he said, “We have 240 branches in TN; we will be adding 30 more this fiscal.”
