MYSUN, a Noida-based rooftop solar player has grid-connected 35kV rooftop solar plant at St Xavier’s High School in Mumbai. The installation will help the school save about Rs 7 lakhs every year on the electricity bill, the company has said in a statement. It added the solar installation of this size is akin to planting 850 trees. To maximise the benefits of going solar for the school, the solar energy generated during the weekends and school holidays would be exported back to the grid through net-metering.
"This will help the school to address the problems of sustainability while simultaneously saving substantially on power consumption. The prestigious academic institution has set a great example for its students by installing the solar-powered system," Gagan Vermani, Founder and CEO, MYSUN.
"Adopting solar energy will certainly help the school achieve greater economic sustainability by reducing our consumption of and dependence on state supplied electricity," FR (DR) Francis Swamy S.J., Manager and CEO, St. Xavier’s High School said.
