The Dakshina Kannada District Milk Cooperative Union Ltd on Monday inaugurated a high-speed milk packing machine in its Mangalore dairy.
At present, the Mangalore dairy has a capacity to pack around 70 packs of milk in a minute. With this machine, around 140 packs can be packed in a minute. This machine has the capacity to pack around 8,000 to 10,000 packs in an hour.
According to Raviraj Hegde, President of the union, this unit will help save time and electricity to the union. It will also help meet the urgent requirements of dealers.
The new machine has been set up at a cost of Rs 12 lakh, he added.
