To meet the growing requirement of finance for the start-ups and encourage innovative ideas in the technology space, the International Centre for Entrepreneurship & Technology (iCreate) plans to rope in venture finance players to its WhatNext 2015 annual event in Ahmedabad.

The flagship event will see large number of entrepreneurs and individuals interested in technology innovations from across the country. As many as five Venture Capital investor companies including Acumen PE Fund, Kalaari Capital Advisors and GVFL Limited among others. 

"This is for the first time we will have VCs participating in our flagship event. This will increase the prospects for seed funding to the start-ups," said Madhu Mehta, chief mentor, iCreate.

iCreate will hold its flagship 'Whatnext-2015' programme on March 13 to provide a platform for start-ups and next generation entrepreneurs. The theme of this year's event will be "The Journey - Converting Ideas into Wealth" for opportunities in the realm of 12 empowering technologies relevant to India as identified by McKinsey Global Institute (MGI).

Global technology experts and academicians will address the sessions during the event. Israel-based academic and practitioner Dr Harry Yukela is the convener of the event, while Prof Oded Shoseyov from Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Sunil Parekh, founding curator and GSI at World Economic Forum in Geneva will be among the speakers. Also, four entrepreneurs two each from India and overseas will address the gathering on their experience. 

Among the technology topics to be covered during the event includes Nano Biomimetics, ICT, Nano Technology, Renewable energy, among others.

Notably, iCreate was conceptualised by then chief minister Narendra Modi in 2011 under the guidance of Infosys founder, N R Narayana Murthy. The non-profit Center for Excellence, iCreate is an initiative of Gujarat Foundation for Entrepreneurial Excellence (GFEE), a joint venture of Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited (GMDC) and Gujarat Entrepreneurship and Venture Promotion Foundation (GEVPF). was launched in September 2011 to create an ecosystem for nurturing and enabling aspiring entrepreneurs.
