The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) will replicate Bhoochetana, which it launched in Karnataka, in Orissa.

The Hyderabad-based agricultural research institute has signed an agreement with the Department of Agriculture in Odisha to roll out Bhoochetana in the State.

“This agreement could potentially benefit 4.35 million farmers in the State. The three-year agreement is set to touch 6.1 million ha of land in 30 districts of Odisha through a science-led development approach,” ICRISAT has said in a statement.

The programme involves revival of the land by improving soil health after mapping it. Over 4.75 million farmers in Karnataka have benefited from this scheme.
