The International Energy Agency based in Paris has evinced interest in sharing the best practices in energy efficiency with Andhra Pradesh, including in charting out a policy framework.

A Chandrasekhar Reddy, CEO, State Energy Conservation Mission, who took part in the week-long programme on Energy Efficiency in Emerging Economies at Paris last week, in a statement said that the initiatives taken up by the State in energy conservation came in for appreciation.

During the meeting, Dagmar Graczyk of Directorate of Global Energy Dialogue, IEA, said the bold and transparent measures in Andhra Pradesh’s LED lighting programme are highly appreciable as they would help the future generation.

Reddy said AP could implement 24X7 power supply by initiating a number of measures on energy saving, including installation of about 6 million LED bulbs and 0.6 million LED street lighting fixtures.

The State Government is seeking the cooperation of International financial institutions to fund various schemes.

Saurabh Kumar, MD, Energy Efficiency Services Ltd, expressed its readiness to further make fresh investments of up to Rs 5,000 crore in the next five years in the State on various energy efficiency activities.

Ajay Mathur, Director-General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), has informed that the Centre was contemplating conducting an international workshop at Vizag on the LED-based street lighting systems.
