Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Women Acceleration and Grassroot Youth Innovation Programme of WE HUB, Telangana’s Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said that the State requires 10,000 MW and the government would like to give the women SHGs an opportunity to produce 1,000 MW solar power.
Stating that the government spent ₹5,200 crore so far for the free bus service for women in the State-run buses, he wanted the women entrepreneurs to come forward to own buses and give them to the road transportation corporation on hire.
“The corporation takes a huge number of buses on hire to augment its fleet. You (women) can tap this opportunity,” he said.
He said women were good managers of finances. “Women received financial support worth ₹21,000 crore from SERP (Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty) and MEMPA (Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas). They repaid all of it with interest,” he said.
Sanjay Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, Information Technology Department, said that Mini WE HUBs would be launched in rural areas. He said 10 per cent of plots in all the five upcoming MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) parks for women entrepreneurs.
