Karnataka Minister for Industries and Tourism RV Deshpande has made a strong pitch for making the State a first destination for emerging technologies such as 3D printing, robotics, advanced materials and internet of things.

Deshpande is leading a team of senior government officials to meet the captains of trade and industry in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh at a road show here.

Assurance to investors Stating that Bengaluru was home to IT, research, biotech and many cutting edge technologies, the Minister urged industrialists from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to explore these areas for investment and invited them to participate in the Invest Karnataka meet on February 3-5.

He assured investors that the State would do everything possible to ensure that business is done ethically, seamlessly and easily. The USP of the State is a combination of highly skilled workforce, technical and technological expertise, and entrepreneurial mindset. This is the reason Karnataka ranks fourth among the most innovative clusters globally, behind Silicon Valley, Boston and London, Deshpande told Business Line .

Infra focus He said the government’s focus is on infrastructure and is investing in a big way in upgrading the State’s infrastructure to include tier 1 and 2 towns and the backward regions. Some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the country such as the Chennai Bengaluru Infrastructure Corridor, numerous tier-2 airports, highway projects and ports are coming up.

The Minister said Japan, Germany and the UAE would be among the partner countries at ‘Invest Karnataka’ meet. Road shows have already been conducted in Dubai, the US and in Paris.
