The Department of Collegiate Education will conduct a job fair in Mangalore for students graduated from government colleges on July 28.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, Devanand R. Gaonker, Joint Director, Department of Collegiate Education, Mangalore region, said that the job fair is being organised to provide placement facilities to the students who have graduated from the government colleges in Mangalore region. (Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kodagu districts constitute the Mangalore region of the department.)

The fair will provide a platform for companies to reach out to the job seekers as per their needs.

Gaonker said that nearly 1,500 job seekers, who have graduated from 32 government colleges in Mangalore region, would participate in the job fair. Around 50 companies have confirmed their participation in the event.

To a query on the companies participating in the job fair, he said that the candidates from these government colleges belong to streams such as BA, BSc, B Com and BBM.

Keeping the educational qualification of these candidates in mind, companies in the areas of tourism sector, garment and packaging industry, companies from automobile sector and banking and insurance sector are participating in the job fair. Apart from them, some companies from business process outsourcing will also participate, he said.  

The job fair will be conducted at the SDM College of Business Management in Mangalore from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 28.

R.V. Deshapande, Karnataka Higher Education Minister, will inaugurate the job fair on that day. D. Veerendra Heggade, president of SDM Education Society, will be present on the occasion, he said.
