Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will present the Vote-on-Account Budget for 2019-20 later on Friday.

The Chief Minister has wrested the Finance Portfolio with him when he expanded the Cabinet early this week.

Meanwhile, farmers and non-governmental organisations working on issues related to agriculture have demanded the Telangana Government to allocate 20 per cent of the State Budget to Agriculture to revive the primary sector.

“Of this, Rs 10,000 crore should be allocated for ensuring minimum support price for several crops. Under the land distribution scheme for Dalits, the government should distribute land to at least 10,000 families this year,” they said.

The Budget session of the Assembly will begin on Friday, with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expecting to present the Vote-on-Account Budget for 2018-19.

Releasing a wish-list for the upcoming Budget here on Thursday, Kanneganti Ravi, Convener of Telangana Rythu Joint Action Committee, said that the Budget should earmark Rs 2,000 crore for crop insurance and Rs 1,000 crore for interest support to farmers.

He demanded that the government should release a White paper on the status of agriculture and allied sectors in the State. “The Rythu Bandhu scheme should be made applicable to all the farmers that are actually doing farming ,” he said.

The scheme is providing the financial help (Rs 8,000 a year for every acre a farmer owns) to all the land-owning farmers whether or not they are doing farming.
