The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Authority (KSERC) has clarified that it has only issued a general advisory for industrial and other consumers in the State to restrict power consumption.
Industrial units have been told to restrict it to 75 per cent of the normal usage, but higher tariff will not be levied for the time-being, sources in the KSERC said.
The regulator would track the usage over the next two months, and failure on the part of the industrial units to observe austerity would invite harsh measures, including a fuel surcharge.
But the directive on stoppage of power for illumination and hoarding/bill board light-up has come into force, the sources added.
