Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM) is proposing to bring together professionals, businesses and investors as part of a two-day workshop in Kochi.
The aim is to bring them all under one roof to facilitate better understanding and exchange of ideas in renewable energy, R. Harikumar, honorary general secretary, SEEM, told Business Line.
SEEM will partner with Arbutus Consultants to host a business meet on solar photovoltaics (PV) at Kochi on February 7 and 8.
KNOWLEDGE PARTNER
Arbutus is headed by P. Jayakumar, who has decades of experience in the industry right from the manufacturing of silicon from crystals to installing and consulting MW level grid-connected solar plants all across India.
Arbutus provides a broad array of services from developing and consulting power projects to providing engineering and strategic advice to its clients before, during and after.
With renewable energy gaining importance, especially in solar PV, it is necessary to build a common platform for business, education, policymakers and society at large, Harikumar said.
PROMINENT SPEAKERS
The workshop will host prominent speakers from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency, and industry leaders.
The central idea is to deliberate knowledge and sensitise people with policies, financials and skills that will take the industry forward. The business meet is designed with a special focus on the rapidly growing solar PV industry.
The first day will address the current status and trends of the industry along with Government Initiatives and policies.
FINANCING ISSUES
Further project development covering the technical and financial aspects for promoters, manufacturers and system integrators will be addressed.
The second day will focus on challenges faced by the PV industry along with business opportunities across the value chain.
Post-lunch, aspects relating to financing of the solar PV sector will be covered. Discussion with the expert panel will take place before the event concludes.
