Once a year, Jindo Island in Korea witnesses a miraculous natural phenomenon, the parting of the sea, similar to Moses’ Miracle.

This year, about 1 million people are to witness and participate in the Jindo Miracle Sea Festival. The phenomenon is caused due to a difference in high tides and low tides, which creates a 2.8-km-long road measuring 40-60 m in width.

The Korea Tourism Organisation, which has an office in Mumbai, is promoting the festival to be held from April 25-28, 2013. Visitors will be able to walk through the sea from the mainland to a nearby island called Modo.

The first promotion in 1975 has got the locals to organise a festival to celebrate the event.
