Mahindra First Choice Wheels, a multi-brand certified used-car company, inaugurated its 11{+t}{+h} dealership in Chennai on Thursday. The new outlet – Venture Cars – in Thoraipakkam will mainly cater to the large number of employees working in the information technology sector in the area.

This is the company’s second Venture Cars’ outlet in the city, said Tarun Nagar, National Head – Franchisee Operation, Mahindra First Choice.

The company plans to end the year with nearly 700 outlets across India, up from the present 530, to meet growing demand for used cars. Last year, the company sold around 69,000 used cars with demand coming from customers in the age group between 24 and 34 years, he told newspersons.

Out of the three million vehicles in the used car market, the organised sector has a share of nearly 17 per cent while direct customer-to-customer dealings account for the rest, he said.

Nagar said the average price of a used car has increased to ₹3.75 lakh from ₹3.25 lakh last year. The replacement cycle of used cars has reduced to four years from five. Many customers are first-time car buyers, he said.

Warranty First provides warranty for all major mechanical and electrical components of the car. The Certifirst Warranty covers the car’s engine and transmission for a period of six months or 7,500 km, whichever is earlier, and Certifirst+ covers engine and transmission for one year or 15,000 km, which is earlier, he said.
