Indian mobile handset manufacturer Micromax is planning to set up a manufacturing facility in Telangana.
The mobile firm had sent a team recently to scout for land and to hold discussions with the State Government officials to help facilitate the project.
“The company is going to submit a formal application on June 12 the day when the State releases its new industrial policy,” Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao has said.
Recently, the Indian Cellular Association had approached the Government with a proposal to establish a phone manufacturing hub near Hyderabad.
Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, the IT Minister said a team from Foxconn would be visiting the State on Thursday to explore investment opportunities in the State.
The Minister said that a team from the Taiwanese firm would also discuss digitisation opportunities.
The Minister, who lead teams to the US, Taiwan and Hong Kong recently, said that the State would now send delegations to South Korea and Japan to attract investments into the State.
