Mr N.K. Nanda, Director (Technical) of NMDC, has been selected for the Abheraj Baldota Memorial Award under ‘Mining Engineer of the Year’ for 2010-11.
The Mining Engineers Association of Indiaat its Annual General Meeting held at Ahmedabad earlier this month, selected Mr Nanda for the award.
Starting his career as mining engineer in Hindustan Copper Ltd, he went on to have a brief stint in ACC Ltd before joining NMDC in 1989.
He was then handling the expansion and modification of the iron ore mines in Bailadila sector. NMDC’s upcoming steel plant at Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh is now under his technical and administrative control, a company press release said.
