Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Minister Setong Sena has called for setting up more ginger oleo resin extraction plants in ginger producing areas of the state to create a viable market for the ginger farmers.

Sena, who visited the ginger oleo resin extraction plant Kryptokroma at Chandan Nagar industrial estate near here yesterday, saw for himself how oleo resin is produced from fresh ginger.

The Minister assured that the State Government would provide all support in creating linkage between farmers and entrepreneurs in this regard as such initiatives would help realise Chief Minister Nabam Tuki’s vision of creating employment for the state’s youths in agriculture and allied sectors, official sources said here today.

“The Government will extend all kind of cooperation and support under its industrial policy to promote more agro-based enterprises to boost the state’s rural economy,” he said.

Kryptokroma is an export-oriented unit for producing ginger oleo resins, and the first of its kind in the North East region, company representative Kiran Mehta said.

Oleo resin represents the complete flavour profile of the ginger and is widely used in soups, sauces, chutneys, dressings, dairy products, baked foods, confectionery, snacks, beverages and pharmaceutical products, Mehta said.
