All of us know Prime Minister Narendra Modi is active on social networking site Twitter.
Almost 95 per cent of his team of ministers have presence on this social media platform.
Of the 65 ministers in the NDA government, 62 have twitter accounts.
One-third of the ministers in Modi’s team have verified Twitter accounts. Of the 62 accounts, 23 have been verified by Twitter.
Interestingly, twitter accounts of some Cabinet ministers including Venkaiah Naidu and Sadananda Gowda, who have good number of followers and tweet regularly, have not been verified.
The NDA government has 27 ministers of Cabinet rank, 13 ministers of State with independent charge, and 25 ministers of State. Of them, 12 Cabinet ministers, six ministers of State with independent charge, and five ministers of State have verified Twitter accounts.
Twitter has been a primary medium of communication for members of Modi’s team for long. However, one-fourth of his team members opened twitter accounts only after NDA assumed power, on May 26, 2014.
Modi has been active on the social media website since January 2009.
Modi, who tweets in multiple languages, leads the table with the most number of tweets. A significant portion of his tweets in the last one year focussed on the Swachch Bharat campaign. Apart from this, his foreign visits and meeting with important dignitaries (and selfies with some of them) also made to his Twitter timeline.
Sushma Swaraj has been actively using twitter to inform citizens on various Indian missions overseas during hours of crisis.
