TiE Kerala Senior Vice President and Business Advisor MSA Kumar has been appointed as CEO of Kerala Angel Network (KAN), the state’s first investors body to fund the state based startup companies.
Kerala Angel Network was launched last year at TiE Kerala’s flagship event TiEcon Kerala 2016. A 11 member governing council has now been constituted to identify deserving entrepreneurs and monitor funding.
Angel Investment is the primary source of funding at the seed and startup stages for companies and is the lifeline for startup entrepreneurs.
To deliver on expectations of the Angel Investors and the startups, KAN’s primary focus will be on nurturing new generation entrepreneurs through money, mentoring and market access.
According to Kumar, the response from Kerala’s startup ecosystem to the Angel network ever since its inception has been very positive. The fund has now become operational with a membership of 19 charter members of TiE Kerala as Angels. The funding is expected to commence in the next few months.
