The focus of the MSME ministry is "simplification of processes", Anup K Pujari, Secretary, MSME Ministry, Government of India, said.

Highlighting the efforts taken towards process simplification, Pujari invited industry association representatives who had gathered at Codissia Trade Fair Complex here to take a look at the single page Udhyog Aadhaar Memorandum.

The notification was uploaded on the ministry's website on September 18. Clicking on the Udhyog Aadhaar page, he said: "We seek basic details for registration of new units; this web-based registration does not ask for documents. Ever since its introduction last month, we have received application from close to 10300 units. Some more similar initiatives are under way," Pujari said.

Explaining why the ministry looked at process simplication rather than issues such as finance and training initiatives, the MSME Secretary said "the latter comes from budget, whereas the former is aimed at "ease of doing business".

The simplified registration obviously will apply to new units. "The existing ones can continue, not mandated to move to this," he said.

On roll out of the new MSME policy Pujari said "reactions have come from various sections and we are considering some changes. While there seems to be no issue on the policy side, voices have been raised on the implementation front".

Pujari told the industrialists that henceforth they would be able to seek online appointment with officials concerned in the respective ministries without any hassle. "This would to a large extent help bring issues to the table much more quickly."
